I ordered this shirt in an XL for my son who is 9 and is big for his age (4′ 8″ and 99 lbs). It fits true to size (what we normally purchase for him) and is a little on the long side, which I liked for him to have room to grow and for extra comfort. If you like shirts to fit very true to size or slim, I would suggest sizing down. The fabric is a printed polyester type, but is soft and smooth and my picky son loves to wear it. It has a very small amount of stretch to it. He chose the pattern (sunset sky with palm trees). The colors are bright, but not super blinding/vibrant. It was a perfect shirt for him to wear to a luau theme party.
